Why Me?

From starting Wanderful as a travel blog in 2009 to running a network of thousands of members, 50 global chapters and 2 annual international conferences, I’ve built a thriving lifestyle brand based on a deep love of a deeply flawed industry, and a desire to help others overcome it.

Today, I’ve been recognized by Business Insider as one of 17 changemakers transforming the travel industry. Our conference has been listed by Forbes as one of the top inspiring events to attend. I’ve earned fellowships from leading entrepreneurs like Tory Burch, Sam Zell and even been invited to the White House. I’ve been put on “people to watch” lists in both Boston and Chicago.

I’ve also got the academic chops, earning an MBA in innovation + entrepreneurship from one of the leading business schools in the country, and now teaching social enterprise at Suffolk University in Boston. In that way, I’ve sat on both sides of the table in an education environment. I regularly support entrepreneurship programs like Entrenuity, and helped launch national initiatives like Chicago Founders TV and #AtTheTable, a dinner series + support network for women building businesses.

But it has never been easy or perfect. I’ve made my share of mistakes in understanding who my customer really is, what she needs, and what she’ll pay for. I’ve fallen into the trap of overthinking my business, and listening too much to what others tell me what my business should be. I’ve run out of money. I’ve cried myself to sleep, worrying about my future. I’ve felt the pangs of jealousy when seeing other businesses thrive while I struggled. And I’ve also persevered, finding ways to run a company while also being a supportive wife and mother, and feeling the amazing energy when you know you are rocking both.

It took more than my business degree to get here. Now, I want to help you navigate these waters while building a career that fulfills you, inside and out.

Learn more about me.
